NP DODGE COMPANY TEAMS UP WITH REBUILDING TOGETHER TO MARK 150TH ANNIVERSARY September 20, 2005 Omaha, Nebraska - Over 150 Employees and Sales Associates Volunteer Time, Skills to Rehab 3 Homes. NP Dodge Company’s 150th anniversary festivities this Saturday will feature a crowd of celebrants and some great gifts. Instead of shining the spotlight on themselves, NP Dodge employees and sales associates have decided the ‘gifts’ at this celebration should benefit the community the company has called home for more than 150 years. “We wanted to continue to give back to the city of Omaha in honor of our 150th anniversary,” said Sandy Dodge, president/chairman of the board for NP Dodge. “So we teamed up with Rebuilding Together Omaha to repair and rehab the homes of 3 elderly individuals in Omaha.” Over 150 NP Dodge volunteers sporting red, white or blue t-shirts will begin work at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24th, at three homes in northeast Omaha: 3836 Decatur Street; 3914 Blondo Street; and 3858 Franklin Street. Tom Pettigrew, President of Rebuilding Together Omaha, worked closely with the group to identify homes with repair/rehab needs that matched the skill sets of the volunteers. “Spring rebuilding day for Rebuilding Together usually zeroes in on homes with basic repair problems, such as painting and plumbing problems,” said Pettigrew. “But many skilled folks came together for this project since one of the three homes we selected truly qualifies as an ‘extreme makeover’.” The house, located at 3914 Blondo Street, required extensive renovation and repair: new roof, gutter and downspouts; new siding; new doors; new flooring, kitchen cabinets, drywall, appliances and bathroom fixtures. “The enthusiasm, experience and connections of the NP Dodge employees make it relatively easy to find contractors and suppliers who were willing to donate materials and labor for this special cause,” said Pettigrew. Renovations to the home on Blondo actually commenced shortly after Labor Day due to the extensive nature of the repairs. Work on that home is scheduled to be completed this Saturday, September 24. Repairs to the other two homes will be launched and completed this Saturday. ‘Welcome home’ festivities for the homeowners are set to begin at 4:00 p.m. All three homes are within a few blocks of each other. “Our people had such pride and enthusiasm for this project from the very start,” said Dodge. “With the amazing support from our contractors, we are able to truly help those who need it.” “NP Dodge has gone above and beyond the call on this project,” said Pettigrew. “Thanks to them, three very deserving individuals will have warm, safe homes this winter.” Rebuilding Together Omaha is an affiliate of the national Rebuilding Together organization. The mission of Rebuilding Together is to keep low-income elderly and low-income disable homeowners warm, safe, dry and independent in their own homes. Nationally, Rebuilding Together has rehabilitated 93,000 houses since it was founded in 1988. An estimated 2.4 million people have volunteered, delivering market value work amounting to more than $204 million. |
